Frequently asked questions
- What is the relationship between Hardawa and ChipCtx?
- Hardawa is the open-source AI CLI for embedded development. ChipCtx is the cloud service that powers Hardawa's chip knowledge base and AI call routing. The Hobby tier runs fully locally with bundled chip data, while Pro and above connect to ChipCtx for richer, continuously updated chip intelligence.
- Can I self-host Hardawa?
- Yes. Hardawa's CLI is open-source (Apache 2.0). You can run it entirely locally against your own LLM endpoint. Self-hosted setups do not consume cloud quota but also do not receive ChipCtx chip-database updates or cloud-accelerated HIL features.
- How is usage calculated?
- Usage is measured in AI call units. Each LLM request made through Hardawa's three-tier router (light / standard / premium) counts as one unit regardless of tier. The Hobby plan includes a monthly free allowance. Pro and Ultra multiply that baseline by 10× and 100× respectively.
- Can I upgrade or downgrade at any time?
- Yes. Plan changes take effect immediately. If you downgrade mid-cycle, unused quota is not refunded, but you will not be charged for the higher tier in subsequent billing periods. Business plans require a minimum 12-month commitment — contact sales for details.
